C. Known Issues

On NT4 PCs the CD will not auto-start properly. Browse the content
of the CD and double-click on Introduction.html to begin.

Microsoft SQL 7.0 Enterprise Manager will not function correctly after
installation. This is caused by a conflict between the Microsoft SQL
Desktop Engine, which is installed as a part of the application, and
earlier versions of Microsoft SQL Server Client applications. You can
avoid this by installing the codes database on a different computer
(see 'Installing the Database Separately' under install instructions
below).

Sending analyses to BCIS using web service and the 'Update codes'
function (which also uses a web service) will not function through
all proxy servers. Older proxy servers (such as 'Microsoft Proxy
Server 2') are known not to work. These web services will also fail if
your proxy server requires Windows Authentication. You may be able to work
around these issues by unticking the 'Use Internet Explorer Proxy Settings'
tick box on the 'Connection' tab under 'Defaults and Settings'. If this box
is unticked the web service will not attempt to use your proxy server.

Opening an analysis XML file in browser does not work if you have Firefox as
your default browser unless you change the Stylesheet settings (in Default and
Settings) to be in the same directory as the XML file. You must then make sure a
copy of the stylesheet is in the directory and open and save the analysis after
changing the settings.

Opening an analysis XML file in browser may not work if you have Google Chrome
as your default browser.

D. Install Instructions

1) Installing from the CD

The BCIS Analysis XML Writer is no longer distributed on CD. Please download
the latest version from this web site.

2) Installing from the Internet

Download the file BCISAnalysisXMLWriterSetup1_1_5_9.exe and run to install the
BCIS Analysis XML Writer application and all the necessary components.

NB With Windows 7 you will need to right click on the setup file and
select 'Run as administrator'. Again on Windows 7, once the installation
is complete you will need to use the Defaults and settings option within
the application to change the 'Default path' so that it is not a part of
the Program files directory path.

3) Installing the Database Separately

If you already have access to a MS SQL Server 2000, or wish to use a single
PC to hold the codes database which can be accessed by your entire office,
you can install the codes database on that computer. First install the
separate database using the installer you can find here:
http://download.bcis.co.uk/BCISAnalysisXMLWriter/Introduction.html
The next stage is to install the BCIS Analysis
XML Writer application, but select the special installation option without
supporting codes database. Finally you must edit the file Configuration.xml
which can be found in the directory the application was installed in (defaults
to c:\Program files\BCIS\BCIS Analysis XML Writer\): change the line
  <ConnectionString Server="127.0.0.1" />
to
  <ConnectionString Server="MyServer" />
where MyServer is the name or IP address of the computer you installed the
codes database on.

4) Updating a version with Database Installed Separately

When updating an existing installation when the database has been installed separately
the dialogue will appear as for a new installation. This can be disregarded.
Install the application selecting the Special installation without supporting codes
database as before.

E. Trouble Shooting

On a Windows 2000 PC the installation may fail with a message
similar to: 'Source file not found(cabinet): D:\Data_1.cab.'.
This may happen if the Windows 2000 security policy is set to
restrict CD access to the locally logged-on user only. The solution
is to copy the entire CD to a folder on a local drive and then run
the setup.exe program from that folder. More details can be found at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325076

F. Uninstall Instructions

BCIS Analysis XML Writer installer, installs three components.

1. BCIS Analysis XML Writer
2. Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine (and database BCISAnalysisXMLWriter)
3. .NET Framework 1.1

These components will need to be uninstalled one at a time through the
'Add and Remove Programs' in the control panel.

Click on 'Start'/'Settings'/'Control Panel'/'Add/Remove Programs' then
uninstall each component in turn:

1. BCIS Analysis XML Writer

Select 'BCIS Analysis XML Writer' from the Add/Remove Programs
dialogue window then click on the 'Add/Remove' button and select
'Remove' when prompted by the Installation Wizard.

2. Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine

Select 'Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine' from the Add/Remove
Programs dialogue window then click on the 'Add/Remove' button
and click 'Yes' when prompted 'Are you sure you want to uninstall
this product'.

3. .NET Framework 1.1

Select 'Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1' from the Add/Remove
Programs dialogue window then click on the 'Add/Remove' button
and click 'Yes' when prompted 'Are you sure you want to uninstall
this product'.

After this process you may still be left with two files
(C:\Program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data\BCISAnalysisXMLWriter_Data.MDF
and C:\Program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data\BCISAnalysisXMLWriter_Log.LDF)
which can be deleted along with the associated folders).

G. Updating earlier versions

If you have an earlier version of the application installed then
running the new installer will update the program and codes database.

When updating an existing installation when the database has been installed separately
the dialogue will appear as for a new installation. This can be disregarded.
Install the application selecting the Special installation without supporting codes
database as before.
